Aveda Products You Need for Your At-Home Facial

If you've been feeling a little overwhelmed by everything going on in the world at the moment, you are NOT alone! While we’d love to invite you into Salon Secrets Spa, the best spa in Kennet Square, PA, to sink into one of our chairs and enjoy a cup of Aveda Comforting Tea, that is, unfortunately, not an option at the moment. Fret not though; Salon Secrets Spa is here to help you give yourself the best at-home facial in four easy steps. Read on to see our recommendations!

Step 1: Cleanse

When performing a facial, you always want to start with a clean canvas. With warm water, lather some of Aveda's Botanical Kinetics Purifying Gel Cleanser to foam away oil and impurities from the skin. If you're into double cleansing, follow this step with the Botanical Kinetics Purifying Creme Cleanserand focus on any congested areas to further rid the skin of dirt and impurities.

Step 2: Exfoliation

After you've cleansed, it's time to exfoliate all those dead skin cells off and open up your pores to ensure that you're getting the most out of your products—this step is critical when trying to achieve smooth skin. For a creamy, clay-based scrub, try the Botanical Kinetics Radiant Skin Refiner. With fingertips, massage onto a moistened face in a circular motion. If your skin is sensitive, or if you just prefer a liquid exfoliator, you can also try Aveda's Botanical Kinetics Exfoliant. Apply a small amount on a cotton ball and gently wipe it across the skin in an upward and outward motion. Don't forget to show your neck and décolleté some love during this step as well!

Step 3: Mask

Most masks need to sit on the skin for about 10 minutes, but you can always leave them on for a longer/shorter amount of time, depending on what your skin needs. We recommend using a mask that targets your skin type and whatever skin issues you may be dealing with, but our favorites are Aveda's Botanical Kinetics Deep Cleansing Clay Masque and the Botanical Kinetics Intense Hydrating Masque. If you'd like to take this a step further, you can "open up" your skin by steaming while you mask. Fill up a bowl with hot water and lean over, or better yet, jump into your shower and turn the temperature up for an added sauna effect.

Step 4: Moisturize

Once you've removed your mask of choice, it's time to layer on the moisturizers and serums. Salon Secrets recommends starting with thinner products and building up to thicker ones. Start with a serum, such as Aveda's Tulasāra Calm Concentrate, to reduce the appearance of redness and restores the skin's natural balance and finish by spreading a generous amount of a hydrating cream, such as the Botanical Kinetics Intense Hydrating Rich CremeFor a little extra pampering, spend some time giving yourself a face massage to boost your blood circulation and lymphatic health.
